Featuring a combination of Carbonite® and felt drag washers, along with a precision click drag adjustment system, anglers can make fine drag adjustments while maintaining exceptional consistency throughout the fight. The reel is built around a rigid ALC die-cast aluminum body, side plate, and rotor, providing maximum structural integrity under heavy loads. 

Okuma’s Mechanical Stabilizing System (MSS) reinforces the frame to minimize flex, keeping gears perfectly aligned while fighting large fish. Inside, oversized HDGII high-density gearing and a precision machine-cut brass pinion gear provide exceptional cranking power and long-term durability.

A premium 6HPB + 1RB corrosion-resistant stainless steel bearing system ensures smooth operation, and Quick-Set® Anti-Reverse delivers immediate hook-setting power. Sizes 55 through 90 also feature a dual anti-reverse system for added security under extreme loads, while the Z-40S utilizes a single anti-reverse system.
